Ubuntu Mobile Getting Its First Core Update For Various Devices

The BQ Aquaris M10 Ubuntu Edition is the first device to feature Canonical’s Ubuntu Touch. For the first time, the slate is on the receiving end of a major software reshuffle as it was announced today by a member of the company Mr Lukasz Zemczak via the Ubuntu software community.

The upcoming OTA-10 update which is scheduled for release in the first week of April – provided that everything goes according to plan — is expected to bring significant changes to Ubuntu oriented devices while adding platform stabilization features geared towards bringing an enhanced user experience.

According to Lukasz Zemczak, the Ubuntu Touch OTA-10 will come with at least a minimum of two new core apps which are the all familiar uNAV GPS navigator which is created by Marcos Costales and the wonderful Ubuntu email client which is engineered by Daniel Wood.

Zemczak went further to add that a default calendar app might be thrown into the mix to spice things up a bit.

This is the direct statement and it reads:
“With the nearest images we will also be including a few new apps by default in our images: uNav, Dekko and eventually – calendar-app,” said Łukasz Zemczak. “Most of you probably, like me, have those installed already so there will be no visible change here, but it’s good to know those will be added to our official batch of core apps.”

This is a wonderful approach from Canonical and will go further in convincing buyers that their products are given full attention and updates will arrive as soon as available.
