How To Upgrade From Ubuntu 15.10 To Ubuntu 16.04 beta (Xenial Xerus)

Canonical has been readying the next big OS release code-named Xenial Xerus as the company prepares to set new standards and possibly entice users from competing platforms to join its ever-growing user base.

Though the final stable release is still a month away, early birds and users who are eager to try out Ubuntu 16.04 before the final build is ready can download and upgrade their current versions of their OS using previously unstable builds like the Ubuntu 16.04 beta from Ubuntu 15.10.

It is very important to note that once upgraded to version 16.04 beta, there is no way to downgrade back to Ubuntu 15.10 and since it is an unfinished release, there is a high chance that users will have issues with bugs and several other undesirable experiences. If you prefer something fresh and stable then we recommend that you wait for the final build which is expected to be available in April.

To upgrade from Ubuntu 15.10 to Ubuntu 16.04, please follow these simple steps which are the same with all flavours of Ubuntu like Kubuntu, Xubuntu, Ubuntu Gnome, Ubuntu Mate, and Ubuntu Unity.
