Frank Karlitschek Steps Down as OwnCloud’s CEO to Pursue Other Opportunities

“Frank Karlitschek has stepped down as CTO of ownCloud for personal reasons. We are grateful for all of Frank’s contributions to the company and ecosystem, and wish him the best in future endeavors. We are fortunate to have a skilled and experienced team at ownCloud, and we are confident that the company will build on its track record of growth as we continue to deliver the world’s most popular open source enterprise file access software to customers across the globe” Said an OwnCLoud rep.

Although sad, but true. Frank made us to know in his tweet that he would be quitting his job to pursue a brighter future, however we do not know if he has been offered a better job or has plans of starting up his own establishment but either way, we believe this decision must have been difficult for him to make given the fact that he is in the forefront of the software’s progress.

Nonetheless, this leave doesn’t affect the services ownCloud has to offer as to their users as nothing would change from them as they should be functioning as well as they did before. Although Frank is leaving ownCloud, his journey with this software isn’t over yet.

The ownCloud community on the other hand didn’t fail to show their regard and appreciation as they released a public post wherein they commended his efforts and went on to say that “Frank Karlitschek has been a part of ownCloud for more than six years and we’re certain that everyone from ownCloud will miss his presence there very much”.
