ExTiX 16.3 to Ship With Latest Linux Kernel 4.6

ExTiX developer has been greatly working on the next release of his much talked Linux-based operating system and today has announced the launch of ExTiX 16.3 LXQt Edition computer operating system.

ExTiX 16.3 is reportedly going to ship with the latest Kernel 4.6 and will be based on the Debian GNU/Linux 8.4 “Jessie,” Debian GNU/Linux 9 “Stretch” and Ubuntu 16.04 LTS (Xenial Xerus) operating systems, the new ExTiX 16.3 LXQt distribution is built around the lightweight LXQt 0.10.0 desktop environment.

“I have made a new version of ExTiX – The Ultimate Linux System. I call it ExTiX 16.3 LXQt Live DVD. The original system includes the Desktop Environment Unity (Ubuntu). After removing Unity, I have installed LXQt 0.10.0. My special kernel 4.6.0-extix corresponds to kernel.org’s Linux kernel 4.6,” said Arne Exton in the announcement.

The new release is going to use Google Chrome as its default web browser and also using WYSIWYG content editor instead of Adobe Dreamweaver.

There will be support for multiple video and audio codecs as well as support for a long list of file formats to enhance user experience.

Other included software are LibreOffice office suite, Mozilla Thunderbird email and news client, GParted partition editor, Brasero CD/DVD writer, SMPlayer video player, SLIM login manager, and GCC (GNU Compiler Collection) are also installed in ExTiX 16.3 LXQt Edition, along with the Nvidia 361.45.11 graphic driver for a better gaming experience.

For those looking to install ExTiX 16.3 on their machines, the Ubiquity installer is present, but there is also the live session, which features persistent (you can save files and settings and reuse the OS whenever you want) uses the extix/extix or root/root username and password credentials.
