Linux Mint 18 Sarah in Works As Beta Could Land Next Week
Users of Linux Mint are eagerly awaiting the arrival of the next introduction of the operating and according to the accounts of an announcement made not long ago, project leader Clement Lefebvre weighed in on what new GNU/Linux technologies are expected to be featured on one of the best derivatives of Ubuntu.
In a monthly newsletter published recently, he stated that Linux Mint would sport the same GNU/Linux technologies like those found on the Ubuntu 16.04 LTS Xenial Xerus operating system that includes the stable Linux Kernel 4.4.
It’s a known fact that Linux Mint 18 which has been code named “Sarah” will follow the footsteps of its predecessors by coming with the acclaimed Cinannom as well as Mate — Cinnamon 3.0 and Mate 1.14 – as its default desktop evnivornmnet.
To make the new operating systems stand out, the developers have decided to fit it with latest Arc GTK theme giving it a fresh look and feel.
Clement Lefebvre didn’t commit to any specific date for the release of the awaited GNU/Linux Ubuntu flavour but stated that the beta for Linux Mint 18 Sarah operating system should reach seeders and public testers as soon as next week.
“Thank you all for your donations and for your support. We’ve received a lot of help in preparation for the next release,” said Clement Lefebvre. “The ISO images are getting close to passing QA (quality testing) so we could see a Beta release early this month. Linux Mint 18 is just around the corner. I hope you’ll enjoy it.”
