New Ultimate Edition Build, the Ultimate Edition 5.0 is a LTS Build based on Ubuntu 16.04 LTS

Since the inception of the Linux kernel, we have seen many operating systems being distributed worldwide based their foundation on top of the kernel umbrella and notable amongst these being the well known Ubuntu operating system.

Although Ubuntu is based on Linux kernel, there are also a handful of systems which also base their builds around the Ubuntu OS taking advantage of the all the security patches and well maintained repository.

Ultimate Edition computer operating system is a Linux oriented OS that is contructed around the Ubuntu and the new release Ultimate Edition 5.0  being the latest release of the project is reportedly going to be based on Ubuntu 16.04 LTS Xenial Xerus.

Ultimate Edition 5.0

TheeMahn, the creator and maintainer of the Ultimate Edition OS had been quite for some months now and prompting many to think  that the previous build would have been the last not knowing he and his team had a heck of a surprise install for their users.

This new operating system is a complete make-over when compared with the last as it uses the Tmosb OS builder utility to rebuild the whole system into something new, on top the Linux Kernel 4.4 supported by Xenial Xerus as it is geared towards being a long-term support build.

Ultimate Edition 5.0

The Ultimate Edition 5.0 being an LTS means that it would be constantly receiving bug fixes and patches to annoyances experienced by users over the period of three to four years possibly stretching all the way to 2019.

In the announcements made earlier on today, the devs said that “Tmosb is also included in this release, allowing you to do the same. This release IS a Long Term Supported (LTS) release, supported until the year 2019. This release is most certainly worthy of the Ultimate Edition title. I have received 0 and I do mean 0 negative feedback.”

Ultimate Edition 5.0

From the looks of things, we might just be seeing the Ultimate Edition 5.0 have different flavours in the nearer future, however, for now, we are graced with only one 64-bit lite edition which is coupled with an MATE1.14.1 desktop environment which is user-friendly and very customizable.

The Lite edition of the Ultimate Edition 5.0 LTS is currently available and works only on a 64-bit computer, however, within some months time, we should see the 32-bit version available alongside an Ultimate Developers Edition.
