Wow! Qt Twitter App, Choqok Receives Its First Update in Over a Year

We were surprised this morning when we heard that there’s a brand new version of Qt Twitter app Choqok on the way.

Choqok 1.6 Beta is the first update the twitter app has received in over a year and a half since its last update. Which was only the second major update to the app in almost three years!

Choqok’s developers in a recent blog post update wrote that,

We want to make this release more stable than ever and then we are going to release a beta today and the final version next month,

If the app is going to be anything worth writing home about then it will have to take care of its stability issues as the incumbent stable release is filled with bugs which is most likely caused (at least in part) by the changes Twitter has made to their infrastructure which Choqok hasn’t kept up with.

Choqok 1.6 is also based on KDE Frameworks 5 and supports for the GNU Social network.

Changes to Choqok 1.6 Beta Include:

  • Remove Twitpic, Tweetphoto plugins
  • Send unlimited character direct messages
  • Always use HTTPS when available
  • Support for quote tweets
  • Support deleting direct messages
  • Show original retweet time
  • Username and Hashtag search
  • Fix user list loading

If you would like a more comprehensive look at this build’s changes refer to the bug list on the KDE bug tracking system.
