Are You Interested in The Ubuntu 16.10 Wallpaper Contest? Now Is The Time To Join
The time has come for another Ubuntu 16.10 Wallpaper Contest.
There are only a few desktop OSes that offer both amateur and professional illustrators, photographers and graphic designers alike the chance to put their artwork up for the world to see.
This year’s Ubuntu wallpaper contest is here again and the best pick out of all the contributions from the community submissions will ship as part of the official wallpapers in the Ubuntu 16.10 desktop which will be due for release in October.
You should know, though, that none of the entries will actually take the spot of Ubuntu’s default wallpaper because that one is particularly designed in-house by the Canonical design team.
Rules and Requirements
The first (and most important) rule you should keep in mind is that all submitted artwork should be original (i.e., do not plagiarize – the work should be yours). Also, you can only make two submissions so make sure that both entries are your best and keep the layout of the Unity desktop in mind.
Oh – and you will need a Yahoo! account to submit your entries because submissions can only be made through the Flickr photo sharing service.
The basic guidelines are:
- Design at a minimum resolution of at least 2560 x 1600
- Keep it simple: don’t use too many colors, shapes, etc.
- Use a single point of focus to draw the eye in
- Remember to factor in Unity desktop elements, e.g., launcher, panel, etc.
The 29th of September 2016 is the deadline for all submissions.
