A Dark Theme and Notification Muting Have Come To Skype for Linux Alpha 1.9

Microsoft makes changes to their Skype app every now and then -and it’s not like bug fixes are not welcome, but the changes are seldom worth writing home about. The good news is that this time around it is not the case.

Skype for Linux Alpha 1.9 rolled out with something good the fans can smile about -two actually. Namely, option to mute individual user notifications and the option to completely disable emoticons.

As for personalization, they have made available an optional dark theme. You can head to your Settings > Personalisation > Dark theme and toggle on the theme.

Support for entering commands, system HTTPS proxies, and improved messaging quoting are other included changes.

Downloading Skype for Linux Alpha 1.9

Skype for Linux Alpha 1.9 is available for free for Ubuntu 14.04 LTS and higher versions.

If you run an earlier Skype version you can wait for this update through the standard Software Updater app. Else, you can just download the latest version from the Skype for Linux alpha website.

Ps.

This Skype for Linux app I still incapable of making video calls. Bummer.
