A Visual Search Engine For You — Atlas Recall

atlas-recall_3Atlas Informatics has launched an intelligent system capable of making your life easier online, the Atlas Recall.

This is simply a search engine for you own computer, yes thats right, a search anything to show you anything that’s ever been displaced on your screen. You can literally take it as the screenshot assistant on your PC.

This system is comparable to Mac’s spotlight search or Windows 10’s universal search but with the ability to show you screen shots of whatever you are searching for. CNNMoney demoed this newly revolutionized searched with Atlas founder and CEO Jordan Ritter, as he showed how Atlas Recall displayed your personalized searches from the app itself, google or respective computer’s own search engine.

Some of you might compare it with the universal search option in Windows 10, Mac’s Spotlight, or Google’s My Activity page. In a demo to CNNMoney, Atlas Informatics founder and CEO Jordan Ritter showed that Atlas Recall displays personalized search results from the app, Google, or desktop search. In other words, search for the word “Interstellar”, Atlas Recall will displays everything you have viewed, written or read that involves that word, ranging from the movie Interstellar, to emails mentioning the name, pictures and video, and a lot more involved with that word “Interstellar”. What is also mind-boggling is, instead of searching by just the typed-in keyword, you can search by type and time to specifically narrow down your search to exactly what you’re looking for that you previous displayed on your screen. Any found items can be previewed by a simple click.

Once you have installed this application on your computer, Atlas begins scanning through your web pages, emails, docs, etc. and informs you when it has determined that it has mined enough data for you to search for anything you have previously viewed.

According to Ritter, one of the co-founders of Napster, claims that all data is highly encrypted once it has been transferred to the Atlas Cloud servers. I’m sure the worry lines and fears of your information security already started bugging you. However, it is understood you can control your data and prevent Atlas from reading or indexing particular links or set of data, etc.

In other words, at this juncture, the beta version of Atlas Recall is only available for Macs running macOS Sierra or OS X El Capitan.

For your information, an IPhone App is also avaliable too but it does not index items off of your phone. That would definitely be a serious breach of privacy. Atlas Informatics is also working on a Windows 10 version that should be coming the markets soon.

You can comment on this article below, but I have a question, do you believe this system poses a threat to your own personal security?
